What happened on the day your Model M was born?
« on: Fri, 04 January 2013, 13:01:45 »
I know that a lot of you guys are sitting in front of a IBM Model M (or Model F). Build since the 80s they might have a interesting history.
Coming from a time of Cold War and interesting historical events... wouldn't it be cool to know what happened on the day your Model M/F was build? :)

Maybe it was build on the day of Berlin Wall Teardown? George H.W. Bush gets president? Special Sport event? First episode of MacGyver aired? You found the M of your own birthday? You got a 420 Model M? Birthday of a celebrity? Google knows what happened.  ;)

Whatever you have... post it! Let's travel back in time!  :cool:

IBM Model M SSK 1397681
ID: 5046361
Date: 02-19-93

Sadly nothing special happened.
-> 12th birthday of Beth Ditto  :D
-> US premiere of the movie "Army of Darkness"

On that day, Pearl Jam played their very first outdoor show.  Pretty neat considering they are one of my all time favorites!

Captain Mark Pyle pilots Clipper Goodwill, a Pan American World Airways Boeing 727-221ADV, to Miami International Airport ending 64 years of Pan Am operations.

I will find some of my other M's later and look up the dates.
