« on: Tue, 05 March 2013, 13:08:01 »
Looking for a budget keyboard with cherry mx browns in it so i can have something to leave at work. Cheaper the better, prefer it not be a POS board. TKL, compact, or standard please. Also would prefer ANSI [small enter key]

don't know a lot but i think the best you can get for a quite good price is a QFR
55$ when on sale ( or maybe 50 ? )

what defines "budget"?  for me when it comes to a mechanical keyboard the only "budget" board i would touch is the CM QFR. But that will still set you back at least 65$.
for a little more money you can get a choc mini or something a little more interesting. not the the cm qfr is boring. i have one with blues and it is tits for its price. amazon ships unbranded versions of this keyboard.

in the world of mechanical keyboards you get what you pay for. unless someone on geekhack sells you a board or trades you one for something.

I currently have a Rosewill RK-9k I paid full price for and i love it, but its too loud for work use and too nice to leave at work. I'm looking for something for less than $75 or so shipped. nothing fancy or anything, just something with mx browns. I'll check out the QFR.

$50 was a one time thing for mx black QFRs.
Blues have gone for $55 several times when on sale, but that's just $10 lower than Amazon's current place.
I don't think I've seen new QFR browns or reds reach those prices. Maybe $70 after rebate a few times?

The Rosewills go on sale more often, and it's usually for all switch types.
