My girlfriend won't take it off. [SOLVED]
« on: Tue, 26 February 2013, 22:57:15 »
This is her laptop keyboard. The computer is only around a year old, but now it looks like this because she refuses to take off the plastic. It's a big deal to her and its a big deal to me. It doesn't make sense to me. Its so ugly. Is there some way to clean this and reapply the plastic? What should I do?

Btw she doesn't want to use another keyboard.

Sometimes it gets dusty enough that it rubs underneath the cover and stuffs up the glossy surface.

I used to do that with everything (remotes in original bags, protective covers) but then realised your not really 'using' the device.

I mean for some things (my last iPhone3gs) i kept it in good condition which was great for resale but yeah, maybe its a bit too long for that cover to be on there.

shown her a KMAC yet? buy a new laptop?

That looks awful! But then again I always take those things off of my electronics, I hate them. Couldn't help but notice there was an FSU sticker on her laptop, do you guys go to FSU? I do, perhaps I could try to convince her with you on campus sometime xD

LOL she is she Asian?

Seems common in Asian household  :P

I mean to be honestly, there's no reason to keep the plastic unless she's planning to resell it.  Otherwise if her intention is to keep it from scratches so it looks "good", then obviously it's not working because it looks horrible  :P

Ask her WHY she's keeping it, maybe you can talk her out of it.

Oh and "My girlfriend won't take it off" is a very misleading topic.  Unless you're having trouble in that area too lol.

I'd just leave her be; if it annoys her enough she'll take it off, if not, whatever. I hate those things as well.

Lol thanks everyone for the replies. Her and I are laughing so much from reading them together. She knows the arguments make sense, and I've said similar things in the past.

After seeing this topic, she has now told me "I will think about it." She also tells me and all of you guys to get a life.

Thanks! Keep it up lol!

-and yes I go to FSU I'll PM you!
-and yes she is vey much Asian ( the Hangul keyboard is a big hint! )

If i may ask, why the Korean layout, aside from extra awesome points?  I'd assume that's hard to obtain from an American distributor.

Well it is a Samsung, so I bet you could order it off of their site with that specification, perhaps that's what she did?

It really bugs me when people don't take this **** off. I typically just peel it off and if they have a problem I apologize.

I also remove all stickers from everything, including my laptop's battery.

My entire family does it. It drives me nuts and makes zero sense since I'd rather have a scrath or two on my device than some dirty plastic covering 80% of the entire thing. Glad I moved to a different country :D

The monsters who keep that film on their electronics are likely the same sick individuals who hang the toilet paper facing inwards and prefer creamy peanut butter. Ship 'em all off on an iceberg I say!

I think you're rushing into this. Maybe she isn't ready to take it off? Just try taking the top half off first and making her feel a bit more comfortable.

i always "take it off" myself.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

XD She uses the Korean layout because she is from Korea.

Same here, I feel like the stickers are unnecessary. Digital cameras pretty much got over the sticker fad, but it looks like it will be on computers for a while.
