I usually do not like the aesthetics of "gaming" brand keyboards, and they always seem to offer features I do not want or care about. Cooler master seems to be taking a different approach. I noticed people on Geekhack have been repping some of the Cooler Master keyboards, particularly the CM Storm Quickfire Rapid, because of it's great value and similarity to the Filco Majestouch TKL. This seems to be similar in a lot of ways, but without the branding. So I decided to leave it here.

Arriving mid March, MSRP will be similar to the rapids which have been selling for as little as 55 bucks lately in some places. I think I have keycaps that sell for that price.....

No rubber coating means that I'm likely in for one! I hate that rubber coating so much!

Plus, ya know, it looks awesome! I don't really like the LED color, and I might hold out for backlit versions of these (which will hopefully arrive before Half-life 3), but this is on my watch list!

I believe that there is a rubber coating on it still. Some more info can be found here.

Looks nice, although I agree I'm not a fan of the rubber coating either.

There will be backlit Stealth version, but it is a ways off. We have a lot of projects we plan on bringing in hahaha...

Yeah I dont mind the rubbercoating either. Think of it more like a special feature though it doesnt really matter.

Also this is sucha sexy board overall though I wouldnt mind atleast one logo somewhere on top of the board.

This looks alittle bit TOO much like a filco which is kind of non original imo.

I asked the vendor representative over at OCN whether it had the rubber coating.

His reply:

It is a rubberized coating... some people love it, some people don't like it, and most don't care as long as it's priced well... haha

He also mentioned they are looking into keycap options, in response to someone asking whether PBT keycaps would be available.

Looking at keycap options right now... there are so many things we want to do, but time is our limiting factor

I would not hold my breath. Though it would be quite a stunt if they would come with PBT keycaps.

It feels weird...which I suppose is something we can get around, but I would rather not drop $90 for non rubberized keycaps

the only problem with the rubber coating in my opinion is that it makes your black keyboard not actually black. if you take a flash photo of it or shine a flashlight on it you'll see what i mean
