[SOLD] Custom-made 60% wrist rest
« on: Sat, 09 March 2013, 22:49:59 »
I made a wrist rest out of a iMac keyboard and a Macbook backlight diffuser. It required dremelling off over 100 spot weld points on the keyboard before I was able to strip everything off the aluminum frame. The plastic sheet, taken from a macbook lcd panel, has a dotted texture for diffusing light that makes for a nice grippy surface. It was cut to size, and then spray mounted onto the keyboard frame. It's missing the battery cover on the left, but you could hide some fresh batteries in there for your wireless mouse and get to them easily. It doesn't slide around at all, but included is a mousepad cut to size in case you wanted a softer landing underneath, or if you just like the black look over the transparent. I sold my Poker before I made this, but I'm sure it would go great with any 60% keyboard. I'm looking to sell it for $40 shipped. [SOLD]

That's kinda cool.  Must be hard to fit onto a desk, though.

Very clever.

And what keyboard is that in the last pic?

Was so confused until I noticed the clear sheet covering the whole thing.

Looks fantastic, GLWS!

Which of these caps would it be? The screw-in or the one that looks like it has a locking mechanism, but is taller?

It looks to be the screw in type. I can compare with the one I have at work and confirm for you 100% on Tuesday.

It is the screw in one. I just checked on my board. (Though it wouldn't be bad to double check) $15 for a screw in cap is mighty pricey though.

Hmm, yes. I'll give you $3.50 for yours. Also, I think it'd be neat to possibly store something in there, like a USB flash drive.
