Storm keyboard w trackball

Hey Guys

Is this the good deal I think it is?

http://www.ebay.com.sg/itm/Storm-2200-Series-Interface-Public-Environment-USB-Keyboard-65-Keys-W-Trackball-/190826951643?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c6e2c33db#ht_1533wt_1143

I'm just a teeny, weeny bit afraid that keyboards like that (long exposure to tough conditions) are in poor shape.

that's an industrial keyboard, why you need such thing for home use. I doubt its mechanical by looking at the keycaps profile height

HAHA!

My friend, probably everyone on this forum has at least two keyboards. Some have 20+

Who cares about home use if it is fun to play around with?

But seriously, it looks very beautiful. If I can get an all-metal set of keycaps and a metallic casing for my keyboard, I would be very happy.

For the cheapo price they are selling it, it's a cheap way to have an 'all metallic' keyboard. The main problem is it probably won't be fun to type on.

that's true, I have around 20 boards :) It does look awesome with the metal plate, but the keys are plastic from what I can see. Go for it get it and play with it :)

Plastic keys?

Damn; my eyes are deceiving me. I really thought the entire keyboard was metallic. (I don't want plastic with metallic paint; that's nasty when the paint comes off).

BTW remember me? You're the nice guy who introduced me to the 122 key terminals. IThey are in transit now and hopefully eventually I will have a really awesome keyboard with lots of macro keys.

The layout is cool, but those keys typically have one or two million key presses of life in them, so either it's worn out, or you could wear it out if you like it.

There are other industrial keyboards out there with metal keys if that's the sort of thing that you're after.

But, hey, if you like it, why not have some fun.   All I'm saying is home work might be important.

The Ebay summary says Used but the item description says New.  Given that they are still in the original box, I think New is more likely to be correct.  Nobody would install this keyboard in a public place, carefully save the box somewhere, and later remove the keyboard and put it back in the box for sale.  These are just surplus.

These things are impossible to type on.
