Hello Guys! :)

I'm Dan, from Lodz City in Poland :). My journey begins with Dell AT101W which i just love (my co-workers do not :P). Before arriving here i was looking far and wide for a keyboard suiting my needs, and no membrane keyboard could give me pleasure in typing i was seeking :) Then i stumbled upon thread with AT101 tour, read the reviews and wanted one badly. As it is hard to get anything with good quality here in Poland which has MX browns or blues i settled for New In Box Dell :)

As a newb (lurking for 1month only) i have few questions:

1) What cherry switch would you reccomend for a person who got used to black alps in AT101W?
2) Are there any ALPS compatibile novelty caps
3) Do ALPS Clacks exist?

Thanks for opening me up to the world of typing with pleasure :)

Hey DamnDan, welcome to GH! I'm a huge fan of the Dell AT101 and currently have one that I'll be using for my future Alps Tenkeyless keyboard project.

1) I would suggest you look at MX Browns and Clears. Both are tactile. I prefer Clears over Browns. You can futher check out my thoughts on switches here and my Dell AT101 review here.

2) There are a few Alps GH caps and the GH Space Saver (Siig Minitouch with Clicky White Alps) has some white on lime novelty caps. I have an orange on black Alps GeekHack cap that you can see in my Wiki from my signature.

3) Yes there is an alps clack but I've only ever seen one. There's a picture of it in the Clack Info Thread.

Your review was the one that made me buy ALPS instead od MX ;-). It is hard to get MX Brown here without having to worry about the quality, and clears are non exsistant :P Thank you very much for such quick response :) i will be on a lookout for novelty caps :) For now i think I will but the red ESC :) in future perhaps double shot direction keys with these beautiful yellow arrows :)

Pitty that QFR's are only sold here with Reds and Blacks cause that would make my home board if i could get them locally with Browns ( AT101W is my work board). And it is MUCH easier to get caps for them :P

Oh and thanks again for directions, making the Wiki richer with caps info and helping me decide to buy this KB with your tour review :)

Haha, thanks for reading my stuff. Feels good to know it helped at least one person :D

And before I forget, a user named Ideus was selling Red Escapes and some other novelty Alps caps but I've never seen then outside that sale. Good luck in your hunt and I'll be posting about my TKL Alps keyboard project soon

Welcome!

I'm sure somebody would be willing to act as a proxy to get you a QFR with Browns as long as you cover the shipping costs.
