One of my Cherry G80-8200LUAUS keyboards came in yesterday. The seller described the keyboard as working with the exception of the credit card reader. Yet, when I received the keyboard, several of the keys were not recognized when pressed. I tried cleaning the keys, the board, and the switches. I also tried using the Cherry Tools software to reactivate the keys to default, but that did not work either. At that point I felt like I wanted to return the keyboard, but I knew it was likely to get dumped if I tried returning it, so I requested a partial refund.
Here are the keys that don't seem to be working: `, 1, 2, 3, tab, q, w, e, a, s, d, caps lock, z, x, c
I have a bad feeling that the left area of the PCB is dead because the non-workings switches are all the left side. I checked the soldering on every switch, and all switches seem to be soldered well in place. I haven't tried desoldering the not working keys yet because my brother lost my desoldering pump, but when I do get a desoldering pump, I plan to take one of the working programmable cherry switches from the board and try them out in the places of the non-working switches.
Any ideas as to what I should do?
I can get pictures if needed.
