I'm new to soldering, and my soldering gun (chinese made, cheap stuff...that's the reason I advised others to buy good tools if they can afford them) started to malfunction. I went out, did some errands and almost at close time I tried to pick one up and it was too late.
I've got a PCB with some resistors missing, so I went to a PC repair shop close to my home that's open late. Two guys work there. Earlier I talked with guy 1 to ask where I could go to find a model M in my city, and if he knew what was that about, and he did, he had saved one from long time ago and used it at home, not planning to let it go. He advised me to go the public institutions that may've them in some wherehouse, etc. I asked if I brought some motherboard with leaked capacitors, broken resistors or whatnot, he would be able to fix them, and he answered no problem.
When I arrived I brought my old PCB bare switches and mounting plate. I stood up in front of guy 2. I asked if he could do that little thingie, change like 2 resistors, one jumper, put some soldering here and there, easy piecy, and he stared at me with drastic eyes and said I should toss it and buy a new one, "where did I get it?", "for what do you want it?", "people just don't fix those things".
Little did he knew that he was in front of a complicated blue alps switches with it's PCB

. His new rubber dome doesn't even compare to this masterpiece. So clicky, and
suave...
I'm gonna do it myself one of this days anyway.
