Hello geekhack!

I'm a soon-to-be-graduating college student working towards a CS major and an MIS minor. I just got a job doing some crazy development work for the summer (maybe it'll turn into a full time job!) More on that later.

When I was a kid, I typed on an IBM Model M. As keyboards moved from mechanical switches to membrane switches, I sort of went with the flow. I typed on mushier and mushier keyboards. Eventually I bought a Macbook Air and realized how much nicer the keys on it were than on my other laptops and desktops. So crisp! Little did I know...

I went to PAX East 2013 and typed on a few mechanicals they had for sale. They were all Cherry Reds and Blacks. I loved the noise, but thought something was missing from the feel.  They said "maybe try Cherry Blues. We don't have any in stock with those switches though." A bit of googling and I was like "Yeah, that's what I want for switches. I'll try one when I get home." I was always looking for a chance to try out keyboards. The stores never had keyboards with mechanical keys in stock near me, let alone keyboards with Cherry Blues. It was so frustrating! Months went by.

A few weeks ago, I started my new job. They handed me a laptop, a docking station, a keyboard, and a mouse. Then they sat me down at a desk with a keyboard tray. I put the keyboard down, and realized that it was a mushy, Lenovo monster. There was no room for my mouse. I spent two weeks programming on keyboard Jello. Thursday, I finally couldn't take it anymore. I said "The hell with this. I'm just going to buy a good keyboard." Late that night, I placed my order. I even paid extra to make sure it got here on Saturday.

It's a Filco Ninja Majestouch-2, Tenkeyless. Cherry Blues and all. Oh. My. God. I've been using it non-stop for like 24 hours. I let some friends test drive it, and within two seconds they were grinning like idiots. I tried using the Air's keyboard again, and it felt like typing on tiny slices of bread. Work tomorrow is going to be the loudest, most productive day ever. I'm going to need a grinectomy. :D

There's a lot of bustle in my area, and a lot of phone-talking. Plus, even that mushy Lenovo thing was loud. I'm not too worried :)
