62g Springs & Ergo Clears Questions
« on: Thu, 04 July 2013, 23:56:10 »
Hey guys, I had a few questions regarding ergo clears, what would be the best springs to use, etc.

First of all, what keyboard would be the best to do the ergo clear mod on (would it be more difficult to perform the mod on a plate mounted kb)? I'm kind of torn between getting a poker 2, poker 1, or a pure.

Secondly, I came across 62g springs on originativeco.com; are they the same as the Korean 62g springs that most people say are great for the ergo clear mod?

Lastly, how many springs come with one order of the springs on the site?

Thanks.

-It is hard to get a Poker I still, but you could if you looked hard or in the classifieds. I would just go for the Poker II/Pure instead. It's hard to decide for you. No keyboard is better to do an ergo-clear mod on. It's just which keyboard you would rather have.

-Yes they are the same.

-I don't know. Maybe someone else can help or you can check out Originative's vendor forum and possibly ask a question there.

the easiest would be a poker 1 or pure because you dont have to desolder the  switches (but the leds if there are some)

yes these are korean springs and they come in a bag of 100

Thanks a lot for the quick replies. Which keyboard would you guys personally choose between the Poker and Pure? I know that some people complain about the Pure because of its fn layout, but is it really that big of a problem?

to be honest both fn layers are not the greatest. just choose one and go with it.

it is easier to get a set of poker keycaps than for the pure because of the short right shift and the tilde key on the right, but that is a minor problem.
if you want to mod leds you would want to go with the pure since it supports full leds out of the box (full led lighting on the poker is a ton of work)

I actually liked 62g Clears with Clear stems. You can find my thoughts on 62g springs here. And you can find my thoughts on the Pure here. I really love my Pure and I would recommend it.
