Came across this on Massdrop - https://www.massdrop.com/buy/tex-beetle-keyboard.  No one's committed to buying one yet, so the price isn't that attractive yet (at least to me).

Checked the ordering page and it looks like they have (red, black, blue, brown) in US / ANSI and (blue) EU / ISO configurations.

This looks similar to the QWERkeys future board -- http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=44012.0

EDIT: oh wait, it is a TEX board that QWER is looking to OEM source.

I'm typing on one right now. I really like it. My only minor complaint is that I'm not a huge fan of the function layer layout. I'm hoping they will have an updated firmware available at some point. Otherwise it seems like a high quality board with a little more understated styling than some of the other 60% boards.

Does the non traditional stagger of the bottom row get to you? I expect it would be pretty easy to get used to after a while.

I haven't had any real issues, but to be honest I'm just now learning to touch type. I've been "typing" for over 30 years and I'm pretty quick with a kind of no-look, multi-finger hunt and peck. I'm finally taking the plunge and learning to touch type properly with COLEMAK. Swapping between the Beetle at work and a QFR at home doesn't seem to take more than a minute or two to get comfortable.

Anyone taken one of these apart and changed the switches?  I'm interested, but I would want to swap the switches for greens or whites.  (Have greens, want to try whites.)

If the plate is friendly for opening the switches, great.  If not, I'm really not looking for a project of desoldering and resoldering all of the switches...

it is plate mounted so you have to desolder all the switches
