Introvert in the worst kind of way. I think that's why I like forums so much because it allows me to speak when I want to and not when it's expected of me. A lot of people tell me that they thought I was a stuck up ******* when the first me because I don't speak a lot but once they get to know me, that changes pretty quickly.

**** labels. i need alone time, i need friend time. i thought i fell into the 'introvert' category for a long time until i realized i was just complacent being unhappy by myself. sometimes it's just scary to shake off your self consciousness and go out and talk to people but that doesn't make you an introvert; nor does needing alone time or being able to occupy yourself without outside influences.

I have Asperger's Syndrome (High Functioning Autism). Thus I am an introvert, but I have been sticking my head farther out of my shell in the last few years. But I still don't get out very much besides work and college.

At my core I'm definitely an introvert.  I enjoy the fruits of extroversion though, through conscious effort, despite it not being my natural tendency.

I scored 1% introvert on one, so I guess I'm right at the line, I mean I can party, have fun, etc... but I also love alone time, I mean nothing but me, music, and the interwebs/games is pretty nice

i guess i'm probably pretty similar in that respect -- i do have to make myself be social sometimes, but i know that i (personally) am better for it when i do.

for what its worth i usually score INFP and sometimes INFJ.

This is weird, these tests usually put me slightly more extroverted than introverted. And even less feeling than I am on this one.

Updated with that other half of the test.

This thread made me think of this video, for those who have said that they are introverts, this is a great video to watch:

P.S. The last time I did one of those tests mine was INTP, but the I was practically smack dab in the middle.

I've seen and read stuff like this before; it's always nice to feel empowered and realize that there are others out there like yourself.  Introversion is useful for understanding myself and my tendencies, but I don't find it very compelling as an identity.

i guess i'm probably pretty similar in that respect -- i do have to make myself be social sometimes, but i know that i (personally) am better for it when i do.

Yeah, exactly.  I am my best self when I acknowledge and embrace my default tendencies, but also challenge them.

"Introvert" is a derogatory label that blubbering idiots put onto intelligent people who'd rather prefer to speak with people on the same level as themselves.

i definitely like speaking to people as smart as i or smarter.
and i am definitely an introvert. had a super intensive clubbing life for a few years, now got back to my roots.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

I also must be very extroverted on a daily basis, mostly for work. I am an instructor, so I must stand in front of classes and speak and interact. I've also had to deal with customers and such. But then, at the end of it all, I do enjoy just coming home and being alone.

For me it kind of depends on the circumstances. As a kid in high school I was kind of silent, but still quite social. As a grown up, I speak up a lot more in a group, but I still enjoy my alone time and can not stand to spend time with others all the time like some of my friends do. I know it was quite a big step for me to let my girlfriend move in. I guess I am more of a social loner, neither introverted nor extroverted.

Though I have to admit that I do not like the idea of labeling everything. So I do not always like to tell people my life's story and keep to myself. I do not think that is a big deal. It also does not require other people to approach me in a specific way.
