HHKB Row Heights
« on: Thu, 25 July 2013, 06:06:24 »
Hi,

I have done some searching for this, but not managed to find a data sheet or similar to give me confidence I have the right answer ...

I like the idea of a light blue or other wasd mod, but ... I use vim/i3 and basically hjkl are my arrow keys for everything. I guess the ASD are on the same row, so that would fit 3 of the 4 keys, but is the W the same size as the keys below?

The other thing I am considering is buying a completely blank topre for realforce set, just pilfering the keys from that. At least this one set could do keyboards as I could also pinch the F and 3 others from this row and maintain the 'bump' on the J key. Obiously this only works for completely blank keysets.

Any thoughts on this, or have I missed something very simple?

Fair enough, thanks.

What about the ASDF rows on Realforce -vs- HHKB, are they at least the same do you know?

I'm going to say they are the same because i have an Orange WASD set from Elitekeyboards which fits Topre Realforce and HHKB

Right then. Should I go for $110 realforce blank set, to get two usable hjkl sets... I guess EK is the only place to buy these?

Hmm, there is some Japan festival on in London this weekend, maybe there is a PFU or Topre stand!? :P

Nice spot! I'll see if I can find any blank sets... might work out a bit cheaper.

I think the only issue you will encounter with the realforce keys is the issue with the Right shift.  There isn't a direct key swap.  I've heard of people rotating caps lock (?) to achieve it.

I'm thinking about swapping the alphabet keys / numbers for something similar to the blue.  I'll leave all the other grey keys alone.  I'll post pics when i find money for it [or land on community chest]

found the missing link (sort of)

jdcarpe is behind this one:

the board I was thinking of earlier...

now, do these keys also work on the standard HHKB pro 2?  maybe someone else can fill in that answer.

thanks!
