Just got interested in mechanical keyboards after hearing about it from a friend.

Pretty much looking for a dirt cheap alps keyboard to get started, any suggestions?

Dell at101w, low cost black alps. You could find one online for around $30 or get lucky and pick one up in a thrift shop. Just have to keep your eyes out.

Definitely check out thrift shops. I've found 2 Focus FK2001s and 2 NMB Space Invader boards just at the thrift shop in my town.
