Ressurecting an old thread, but still for a good reason.

The quality of the older Roccat models isn't all that great, especially their scrolls, which were really fragile (something which was fixed in the Roccat SAVU, Kone XTD and Kone Pure and its variations due to the "Roccat Titan Wheel"). And they had even worse problems with the Kova+ and its Pixart PAN3305DK Sensor, which was installed incorrectly, making it just stop working when quick movements were made with it.

Now, the quality of the Roccat Kone Pure is quite high. It includes one of the best rubber coating I've ever seen, better than most brands I've used (Steelseries, Cooler Master, Razer, Logitech, A4Tech, Corsair...) and the teflon feet are just unbelievable. The mouse just feels like a piece of soap no matter where I use it (including control-type mousepads). That's something I liked very much, but I know of people who wouldn't.

When it comes to internals, it follows the same recipe as Steelseries Sensei series and the same which is also found on the newer Cooler Master mice (CM Storm Recon, Spawn, Havoc), which is:

- Left and Right mouse buttons with OMRON D2FC-F-7N (Roccat mice use the 5M version, kinda strange since it should be using the 20M model due to its price)
- Scroll made by ALPS (and it's not exclusive for Roccat, unlike their marketing says)
- Side Buttons with TTC Red Switches (same as used on Razer Deathadder 3.5G and Steelseries Sensei)
- Scroll Button made by OTM (HUANO, TTC and Philips Square Switches are nice too)

The top buttons are non-standard square switches made by an unknown brand. Since they're not switches which are used oftenly, that's OK.

It's some pretty nice internals, but there are mice out there that cost less and have just about the same internals (Roccat SAVU, CM Storm Spawn, CM Storm Recon).

Anyways, it's far better than some Lhij crap that Cyborg uses for Left and Right Buttons, as well as the Square Switches for side buttons... Seriously, those mice are just plain horrible when it comes to internals and are overpriced like hell...

I just got their most expensive Roccat Kone XTD model.  I only chose it because it's my favourite sized mouse which fits like a glove to my right hand.  Just need to see how long it will work before something goes wrong (they all make pretty crappy rodents these days).

So far am loving it, easy to push around on the matt plus I'm use to the strobing lights a lot more.  This would be my second Roccat mouse I have owned thus far and it looks pretty good compared to anything I bought from Razer for the past 9 years.

I've also bought my Roccat Kone Pure because it's the right size and has all the features I need.  So far it's working great and it's been 2 months with no problems.  Build quality wise I think it's actually better than the Logitech and Razer mouse I own.

The only real complaint I'd have is that I've come to realize I like symmetrical mouse better than ergonomic mouse.  Also I wish the middle click was a little bit lighter.  Otherwise so far so good.  :D

Don't you ever buy the Logitech G9x or you'll have nightmares for months when it comes to middle click...

...

Ow snap, you already have it  :p

Anyways, the G9x has the worst scroll and middle click button ever seen on earth. Period.

Other components are also a mess...

LOL I don't mind G9X, I think overall it's a good mouse but yes it's true that it has the worst middle click ever in human history.

I set up the left and right scroll as middle click instead since those are a bit easier to click.

Though I have to say my favourite middle click still comes from Razer Abyssus / CM Storm Xornet and most of the cheapo office mouse.  I like light and springy middle click.  :)

But yeah now I'm waiting for any company to create a first ever small size symmetrical laser mouse with side buttons.  (Currently no such thing exist yet)

lol, it seems we really do think alike...   :)

But the worst part of that, is that after one month using the G9x I was trying to press the horizontal buttons on my other mice as well  :))

I've had a the RAT 7 for a long while and I am very pleased with it. It just agrees with my hand, it's stupidly comfortable for me, and I've had no issues with the sensor at all. The software is a bit hit and miss, though.

I have a Roccat Pyra wired and it has a poor scroll and middle click and doesn't fit my hand well. For those reasons I haven't used it much, so I can't say anything about how long it lasts / how tough it is.

I also have a RAT3, have had it for a few years now and use it every day. Absolutely love it! Most comfortable mouse I've ever used. Actually just bought a 2nd one in white to use at home, so I can use my old one for work. It is lighter, cheaper, has a better sensor and less issues than the 7. Also, you can set the DPI for each level with the software (in small increments) and store it in the mouse. The optical sensor in the new ones is really good. You CAN adjust the palm rest by undoing a screw:

http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=49994.msg1085963#msg1085963

The only downsides are that it doesn't have the thumb scroll wheel, weights, adjustable side pieces and "sniper" button.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.
