Hey!

Hey all! New to geekhack after lurking for quite some time.

As a gamer, I love keyboards. They're one of the most important parts of computer gaming, it's where you spend most of your time and where you input all commands to your wonderful machine.

My first mechanical experience was when I saw my uncle's new Razer BlackWidow Ultimate (I know, I know). From there, I purchased my own, sold it, went back to scissor switches with a Razer Deathstalker Ultimate... then went back to a Razer BlackWidow Ultimate 2013, then returned it, and I'm now typing on a Ducky Shine 3 with Blue LED's with MX Reds.

After using these reds for a while, they're nice, but I'm still making some mistakes because of how light the keys are... Looking to move to an MX Green or maybe even Buckling Springs with a Unicomp keyboard.

Hope to learn more and have a great time on this forum!

For the sake of your sanity, don't go to Greens. I'm a very avid typist and Greens really just wear your fingers out. I fence and exercise my fingers greatly, but typing at 130 gets me tired just barely past half a minute. If you want more force and tactility, the Blue would be nice, but it's only 5g heavier, despite its click. The Clears are a much-loved key and despite my lack of experience, you'll probably love it because it's 55g, noticeably more but not heavy. I don't think that one would acclimate back and forth easily between 45g and 80g switches.

Apparently Ducky also makes an MX Clear board, so you'd probably do well with that.

Greens are a bit extreme if you like linear maybe try blacks.

I daily driver on Greens. I don't have any fatigue issues.

You should honestly get in on Hashbaz's switch tester tour, go to meetups, or buy keyboards to try switches. Everyone is going to have a different opinion of switches as you can tell.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies, sorry I haven't been able to get back until so late.

Well, I'm typing on an IBM Model M now, and I'm loving it. I haven't felt any fatigue yet, and I'm on the computer for 6+ hours a day. I love the weight of the keys and how solid everything feels, it's perfect for me. Loving it for typing, and gaming on it is no problem either. Love it!

I'm saying that when I'm typing rapidly, I get tired. In normal functions, when one is not actuating the keys at high speed, it is fine. Just unnecessarily heavy.
And congrats on finding a Model M! They're wonderful boards.
