Well hello there
« on: Thu, 31 October 2013, 12:14:58 »
Hello GH!

Glad to now be a member and a new mechanical keyboard user. Lots of great information on this forum and I have learned a lot. Thanks goes out to the community.

I am a proud owner of a WASD V2 TKL 87 with blacks and a 10 Keypad from Leopold (FC210TP/CB) with blues.

I am a systems/network administrator and can't believe how long I went without getting into the mech keyboard world. The first board I touched was a Filco TKL with browns. I didn't even pay attention as I was at the user's computer, but once my fingers starting typing, I thought "WHARRR IS THIS???". It was love at first type. Had the pleasure of also hitting some DasKeyboards for comparison but I did not take note of the switches or models in this case unfortunately :(.

At the time of my first purchase, WASD did not have clears or browns available sadly. After reading around these forums, I decided to go with the blacks as I was afraid the reds would have been too light for my taste. It was a great decision and I love the everything about the black switches so far.

A complaint that I have seen a few times with the black switches is that they cause fatigue in the fingers. Initially, this went unnoticed but eventually crept up on day 2 and 3 of using the keyboard. That was it though. My fingers do not become fatigued whatsoever anymore. This is probably because now my fingers have gotten used to the activation pressure and the keyboard is beginning to become broken in.

The keyboard was ordered without any O-Rings. I purchased a sampler kit from WASD that had all of the switches after my first keyboard purchase, backwards I know. But upon getting the sampler kit, I got to test out the O-Ring configuration. This led to me ordering a 125 pack of RED .2mm 0-Rings from WASD and outfitting my entire keyboard. When my Leo 10 Keypad came in, more O-Rings went on that guy. They add a slight dampening to bottoming out and reduce the sound as well.

More keyboards will be added in the future definitley. My next purchase will be the HHKB Pro 2 and will probably get that before the end of the year from EK.
