Green keycaps
« on: Mon, 07 July 2014, 03:22:56 »
Hey guys I'm new here.. I'm in the market for a mechanical keyboard and I think I'm gonna buy a Ducky Shine 3. I want to customize it to have lime green PBT keycaps but im not sure: Where to buy the green (lime green) keycaps... I know wasdkeyboards sells keycaps in different colors but, since im going to buy a ducky, I want to know about the LED thing coz it says here: http://support.wasdkeyboards.com/customer/portal/articles/1366948-keycap-compatibility
"LED Backlighting Compatibility
Our keycaps will not allow light to shine through the legends on LED backlit keyboards."
im buying ducky shine for the LED mostly and it would suck if it wont shine through..

Can you guys help me?

Welcome to Geekhack!

Don't think I've heard of a full lime green PBT set.

The closest would be the Topre printed set, but they will not suit A Ducky Shine.

EK has a green ABS set, pad printed but.  Cheap too.

Sorry, my internets are broken at the moment, the EK site won't load properly.

Green non-printed RealForce keycaps (NOT suitable for Ducky, but they are lime green PBT): http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=access,toprekeys&pid=xf0100kt11n

Anyway Topre keycap sets are not available any more.

EK 104 key set, green, pad-printed, ABS: http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=access,cherrymxkeys&pid=dmx_us104_grn_tw

EK 104 key set, green, blank, ABS: http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=access,cherrymxkeys&pid=dmx_us104_grn_np

Those are definitely the Topre printed green set.

The closest I've seen to that is the Toxic GB.  Currently closed, but if you're nice to BunnyLake he might have a couple of extra sets.

might not be of much help, but this is a green and black set from WASD keyboards (with color correction for near true color representation)

It's amazing how much there is to know about keyboards.

And you probably thought you just type on them ;)

There are VERy few aftermarket keycap sets that are properly backlit compatible. But don't despair, most thinner sets allow light to bleed through and even the thick sets allow light to bleed around them to create a nice glow effect, so the backlighting will still help, even though with thick caps it won't actually light up the legends.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

Bunny is probably one of the busiest GHers right now. I PMed him for a toxic set a few weeks ago and he got me hooked up. One thing to remember is that they haven't been produced yet. Latest update says they should start shipping within the next couple of weeks.

The GreenTea Set!

Great set of colours IMHO, very calming. I've ordered a base and Tsangan kit. They're doubleshot ABS in DCS profile with some nice options. The teapot caps appeal to me, too :)
