Click Clack Skulls
« on: Mon, 02 December 2013, 16:09:05 »
Been a member for a good while here at GH and being one of the select lucky(unlucky) few who hadn't had the luck of the draw in the EK Click Clack Skull drawings for an at-cost Skull I have had the opportunity to think(mull) over the process and came up with an interesting idea/proposal.

Seems that most Skulls on average go for 3-10 times their original value; by good reason... you know, being awesome and all. But they come at a steep cost to people who don't have one and want them for what would be a reasonable price; maybe +$5 from retail?

Anyway, I thought it would be a cool idea for click clack to do a limited run(35? maybe?) of clacks and then make an online ledger of who owns them. The original 35 could be from a drawing/selection/whatever. From there, it would be interesting to see at what cost they were sold if sold or what they were traded for if traded. I mean, there would be some work to keep tabs on them, but it would be kinda cool considering. I mean, you'd be able to see where "Limited Clack #32" is etc. etc. etc. This doesn't go to say that somebody may get one and sell it for... let's say, $500, but it would be publicly known and recognized haha.

The ledger could be on a controlled post/google doc and then we'd see where this goes...

What you think Mr. ClickClack?

I like the idea, but surely its covered by the fact that most clacks cost 30$ (ish) originally, we all know what they originally cost, thats why there is so much controversy.
unless they have some unforeseeable downside (like they're actually made of cream cheese cunningly disguised as ABS)

I would like to know why they are not produced at much greater numbers.

their exclusivity does not financially benefit the producers.  they can contract the work out, reap greater reward for their work, and kill the hideous mark-ups.

No artist wants their work mass produced unless they're in it entirely for the money. It seems clear that CC isn't in it for the profits.

I didn't realize you were this stupid that I'd have to spell it out, but I could probably list more artists, including musicians, that create their work so everyone can have it.  What that means, since I'm spelling things out for stupid's sake, is that stuff is mass-produced so people can be affected by/have it in their lives.

ClickClack?
Lets just let him run things how he wants.  Check out his FAQ, you might like it.
