looking for keyobards (DE-layout)
« on: Sat, 07 December 2013, 10:22:31 »
Hey guys,
so far I tried the QF Rapid with reds and I really, really like them, but I rather prefer mx blues.
Reds are far to light for typing and i miss the click.
Since I'm from Germany I unfortunately don't have a lot of alternatives.
I can get:
  • QF Rapid (blacks)
  • QF Rapid XT (blues)
  • Ducky Zero DK2108 (blues)

I love the tenkeyless design, but I guess I have to pass this "future".
Do you know some more alternatives or can you give me some advice which one would be the best deal?

Greetings from Germany!

p.s.:
Does anyone know, whether there will be soon a release of keyboars with mx green/white/clears in DE-Layout?

What about a Cherry g80-3000lqcde? Or are you looking for a tenkeyless? I don't understand.
A long space bar... what a waste of space!

I was in Germany over summer and bought a Cherry G80-3000 with clears while I was there albeit in international US layout. Unless you're completely set on getting a tenkeyless board, your best bet is to get a G80 as these are really easy to pick up brand new and pretty cheap in Germany. http://www.jacob-computer.de/ generally has a lot of Cherry boards available.

I'm already aware of Cherry's G80, because I already have one at work.
But I'm looking for overall better quality and (metal) plate mounted.
So I would like to know, which of the above mentioned keyboards would fit best for me.
To sum up:
The Quickfires are the only ones, which are tenkeyless here in Germany besides Filco (way too expensive and only with browns I dislike)
The Quickfire Rapid with blues would be the PERFECT keyboard in my opinion, but not available in DE-Layout. T.T

Pick up some blue switches and a soldering iron so you can exchange blue for red? It's not a difficult task really.

Wait! I know that Cherry keyboard are not plate mounted, but aren't Cherry keyboards good quality?

Or ask a friend.

It may be a trait of the newer G80s rather than old ones but I would say that my QFR is better built than my G80. Possibly just due to the lack of a plate in the G80 but maybe cheap-ish plastic as well?

Is it essential that you get DE layout or would any ISO board be ok? You could always buy a UK QFR with blues from amazon and get it shipped to Germany? Might be a bit expensive in shipping though.

Are your aware of the Ducky keyboards Teraset from Finland is offering? They have a TKL with MX clears and QWERTZ layout in stock. While shipping from Finland is quite expensive, I can highly recommend their service.

Actually, they have a model with MX blues; what the OP was asking for.
