Hello, I'm new to GH
« on: Sat, 07 December 2013, 22:03:23 »
I have a couple of SSKs that I've been using for about 10 years. Also a couple IBM M4s, which I like very much but are getting old.
Can't wrap my head around having a windows key, so I've been looking around for something mechanical without that key.
So I bought a Siig Minitouch, with white alps XM (the crappy alps from what I gather from research.) Couldn't find a monterrey.  I like the layout but keys are a bit sloppy and enter key is a ridiculous mess.
I posted a new topic about it in keyboards forum.

Anyway, glad to be here!  :)

Ten years...wow! I hope to live more than my current new keyboard lifespan. Now my puppy and my keyboard may live after I gone...

Yeah, they'll outlast me for sure. But I'm getting the hankering for something new. Just got a siig minitouch just because I like the layout. Haven't started working with it yet tho.

I was fortunate to get a couple of them years ago from a computer parts recycler for $15 each. One was even NIB from 1988.
They're kind of like my kids now, I love them enormously but its time for them to move out so I can experience something a little quieter and that I don't have to pound on to make them work.

Welcome to GH! Always nice to hear from new people here that they also love the ssk, like many of us do.

You should post some pics of your "kids" here: http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=34712.0
