There were few instances under certain light conditions that I thought dark grey legends on black keycaps was not such a great idea.

FWIW I do have HHKB, white with black legends.  I am pleased with the classic look, and with the legibility of the legends.

Just got one.  Black on Black.  I'm worried that I can't see the keys sometimes since I like to work in the dark.  Now mind you I can type without looking at my keys.

BUT there are times where I get passwords wrong on stupid websites.  PW: ******** When there's no visual confirmation of the letter you type, it can get a bit annoying.  So I DO have a number of LED glowy keyboards for this reason.

But i know of NO off the shelve LED Topre switch that I am aware of.

Well, I have no regrets.  I bought the black RF 87U, and a white RF 87U.  I also got pink lettered caps, pink blanks, green lettered, blue lettered, red lettered and white lettered.  I also have a white HHKB Pro 2 Type-S with blanks and lettered keycaps.  Why am I telling you this?  To brag?  Hells noe.  Only a fool would brag of spending money.  The wise man buys stocks and bonds.  The fool buys keyboards.  But I digress.  What I'm trying to say is that I've tried them all, and I can tell you that IMO the best are blanks. 

After much reflection, I currently think white blanks with grey modifiers is my favorite color combo.  Second best is black blanks (which I don't actually have right now).  Third is the black on Charcoal.  I still like pink with either letters or blanks, and the green lettered.  I've sold off the rest.  I dunno if this helps or not.

I use an RF 87U black keys (printed) w/ silver digilog aluminum case at home. Not as critical to see letters at home and I have ample lighting when necessary to see the print. I love this combination even more  ;D

I loved my white 103u, I love my white 87u, and I love my white HHKB. I got some black and charcoal caps with my white hhkb and I can't stand the black caps at all. There is the rare time that I need to glance at my keys, especially with a keyboard like the HHKB and not being able to quickly see the key I want can get frustrating. I recommend the white for anyone as I absolutely love it.

the dark grey on black in low light settings sometimes throws me off still
when i have to use the number row that is.
Normal typing is fine, but when im keying in numbers, since no 10key pad its difficult.

Hence why im looking to buy another keyset, im tempted to buy the pink set on sale to go with my black RF since i can't find anyone who'll sell me a lime green set.

EDIT: 10th Anniversary 87U and black on white/grey 87U.  I also have Green blanks, which I find difficult to use, but look awesome.
