Hell no. But I know people that work at usps and I'll let them know to take extra time delivering your stuff!

i won't be working on january the 7th :p
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Shouldn't Xmas Eve be tomorrow anyway? Why do we call today Xmas eve? And why is the whole day referred as Xmas Eve when it's still morning? Makes no damn sense.

And why can't I experience snow for once!

I may do some designing today if I have the extra time between family get togethers and getting ready for tomorrow.

I did a full time job and it's 9PM here and I'm still working...I have nothing else to do anyway, nobody to spend xmas eve with, nobody to give a gift. I do it completely voluntarily because I might as well work, it will at least pass the time faster.

I'm not whining or anything, just to let you guys know that even if you do have to work on xmas eve, if you've got anybody waiting for you at home you have no reason to be unhappy. :thumb:

We might get that here, but I'm back in WI right now so I'm not sure.  I'll have plenty of snow to go back to in January though, I'm sure!  And even more bitter cold than here...   :p

What kind of job do you have?

I write documentation for Sony Computer Entertainment (i.e. PlayStation stuff). Writing manuals & packaging, and onscreen language are all part of my job. Any English that appears on a PS Vita or PS4™ screen that's not part of a game went across my desk. Much of the PS4™ packaging & manuals, and all of the PS Vita packaging & manuals went across my desk. Often I'm all that stands in between the consumer and badly-translated Japanese. Been with Sony 2.5 years now. Love it. I telecommute at least once a week.

Merry Christmas.

Is your degree in technical communication?  I had a class in that and it seemed kind of fun.  How did you end up landing that job?  Just curious, and sorry for off topic.

Actually, my MA is in English (Creative Writing). However, I never had trouble "transitioning" from fiction to technical docs (some might say there is no difference, ha ha ha). A colleague I worked with previously recommended me for the Sony gig. Reputation and people-networking are the two biggest factors in scoring good work in Silicon Valley. I've rarely found a good job by blindly submitting a resume. YMMV.
