Hi and merry Xmas
« on: Tue, 24 December 2013, 15:00:46 »
Hello and merry Christmas.

I m form germany and the owner of a new g80 3000 with blacks.
But im not very happy neither with the build quallity of the g80 nor the switches.
Thats why im going to give a present to myself. But i m not sure which board it will be.
I like the formfactor oft the keycool 84 and as far as I read it is properly build. But i read on the facebook page of vortex that the race II is coming early in january.
Think the race will be netter for me because i hope eventually there will be some options for modding. In the other hand i might end up buying both with different switches.
The next thing are the switches. I ordered a sampler set of wasd and played with them the last few days.
I love the sound and the feeling of blues. But I am a gamer and not that heavy typist at home. Blues would be better in my heavy duty work board. But my coworkers probably would kill me within 30 minutes.  :-[
I thought of browns as a compromis. But if you have any suggestions for me I am open for them.

Im probably going to order the keycool 84 now with browns which will end up at work as soon as the race 2 with reds is on my desk.

Plesse excuse any typos. I had to type in my cellphone because im home for the holidays.

Greetings
/ distel

Hello and Merry Xmas right back at you!

If you love the feel and sound of blues don't let other people bring you down! Show them who's the boss! Hell if your work involves lots of typing then I'd say your entitled to use the keyboard you need... after a while people get used to it and it becomes part of the usual background noise. In all seriousness though, you could probably just put some o rings on your blues, or compromise by using mx clears instead. If you do go the clears route you'll need to do your research to find a keyboard that you like and has them, since they are not part of the usual suspects.

I just tried a quickfire with browns. Had to return it an hour later. Blue is where it's at for me. :)

Anyways, welcome and watch your wallet!

Im going for blues now and I just orderd a 60% pcb from sprites.
So my 2. mecha will be a "self" build one.
Pretty excited about that :D My last project been a while.
The next thing is, that i just tooked a shot on a Triumph Adler Gabriele 7007L on ebay some minutes agao and got it :D

I  think i will order Raindrop Blue Mods to complete the keycaps
Dont know about the case right now. Probably going to build a wooden one.

In the long run you will find that mechanicals are all about personal experimentation. Before, you settle in one switch and board combo. Just be prepare to invest your savings here.  :D
