Howdy people!
I'm a Swede who only just recently learned that there are whole communities devoted to mechanical keyboards. Unfortunately I don't know a whole lot about computers in general nor keyboards specifically. I fear that my last couple of months of constant visits to mechanical keyboard forums have infected me with the mechanical keyboard bug, though. The awsome setups and great looking keyboards that a lot of people here and elsewhere have are inspiring, to say the least.
Despite my lack of knowledge I actually do have a mechanical keyboard: a Filco Majestouch 2 TKL with brown switches (well, I actually have a Steelseries 7G with black switches too). When I got it I didn't know about the fact that some people devote a lot of time, effort and money to make their keyboards juuuuuust right.
I haven't yet done anything with the keyboard and am thinking long and hard of what to do since I don't really have the money to experiment and try out too many different things at the moment. I'd like to get a new set of key caps, as the ones I have are pretty worn (and pretty ****ty to begin with, I've read), a new (and sleeved) cable in a suitable colour, o-rings to quiet it down a bit (though, I haven't tried it so I don't know if I'll like it). Also I'd like to see if I can fit a sound dampening mat of some kind in the bottom of the case. Oh, and maybe a new case without the logo? And and...
I'm not yet sure what modifications are possible at what costs and what levels of knowledge they require. And since there are some things I don't quite like with the Filco, I'm still unsure as to wether I should try to get a hold of a Ducky G2Pro or start fiddling with this one.
Anyways, I'll be doing a lot of reading and, I'm guessing, a lot of asking.
