Sounds like it has this kind of switch, which seems kind of interesting:

Then again, the caps look completely different than this Xerox 820-II keyboard http://deskthority.net/keyboards-f2/magnetic-keyswitch-t1485.html so perhaps it’s a different mechanism.

Looks like either hall effect (microswitch) or possibly vintage SMK or something else.
