Hmm... let me try to put this goal into perspective for you:

It took Ripster YEARS to get all of his posts, and he only made it to like what, 25k? And look at how much bull**** he had to post to get that number...

Also this: http://geekhack.org/index.php?action=stats

This forum has been around for YEARS and we haven't even reached 1M posts.

So yeah, this thread is completely pointless. It should be deleted...

People need goals in life, don't be a downer. :P

People need REALISTIC goals. This is just ridiculous...

At least lower the number to 200k or something. At least then there's a chance we could reach that goal...

Oh, and a thread that's been open since April has just reached a measly 200 posts. Gratz! Such a milestone!

I used to think I'd never use anything other than XP but Windows 7 I like, 8 was too 'new' for me.

Funny you say that, I used to feel the same way... but then XP got obsolete, so I had to upgrade.

Plus snap feature. I try using it so much in Windows XP, only to remember that I can't...

(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

You should use Windows XP instead of MAC OS X (Mega-Awful Crappy Or S hitty Xcretion). Or even 98! Windows 98's pretty good, especially on a Pentium III. Put IE6 on it and you'll be in business!

I used to use Windows 98 SE on a Pentium III 500MHz.  I still have the computer - it was in a huge case that I might one day reuse as a server.  Or maybe not, I am trying to downsize.

I had a similar setup except it was a P3 ~600mhz in a huge tower and I eventually upgraded it to run XP!

Heh I upgraded mine to run Linux.  For such a large tower there was only space for 2 HDD, IIRC.  Tiny motherboard.

Yeah at one point I had  a motherboard in mine that would crash on windows installation (windows 2000) but linux ran perfectly fine on it.

I had (still have, actually, although whether it still works is another matter) an old server that supposedly supported Windows NT or something of that vintage, but I could not get anything else to install on it, including numerous later Windows and various Linus distros.

I think I eventually got an old Ubuntu to run.

It had 6 SCSI HDD in RAID, each with an LED on the front, and it was somewhat hypnotic to watch all the blinkenlights.

I'm in!
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Hmm... let me try to put this goal into perspective for you:

It took Ripster YEARS to get all of his posts, and he only made it to like what, 25k? And look at how much bull**** he had to post to get that number...

Also this: http://geekhack.org/index.php?action=stats

This forum has been around for YEARS and we haven't even reached 1M posts.

So yeah, this thread is completely pointless. It should be deleted...

Looking at the forum stats the forum now currently has 1019757 posts

Congratulations indeed!

Until someone deletes an older post and reality shifts slightly.
