Who is the wise guy who listed this?
« on: Sat, 08 February 2014, 13:11:23 »
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Custom-Painted-IBM-Model-M-Buckling-Springs-Mechanical-Keyboard-/151226514231?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item2335cd7b37

Undistinguished keyboard, common model, missing parts, poor description.

Seller merely sprayed some paint.

And wants to sell it for $200?

I can also paint a 1394101 casing red and sell it for $100 shipped to anyone who wants it!

Really wish there was a geekhack Un-Great Finds for us to post crappy deals and laugh at them.

But bear in mind that this keyboard "Work's good" and comes with almost a full set of keycaps. Well worth the asking price.

Put an ad out on geekhack, offer to buy a painted Model M with an almost full set of keycaps for $80 shipped.

You will get responses, I promise you. No need $200.

Yeah, I thought about posting this one just so people could have a laugh. $200?! The seller is out of his mind. The paint job is also not good at all. Look at the photo of the back where the label was masked before painting and you'll see what I mean.

yeah, if anyone wants to know, my paint jobs are better than that.

And this is oafish, clumsy Gutz that I am talking about.

So, folks, anyone up for a $80 shipped red model M casing? I would really be very happy to receive payment (rather than ridicule) for anything I've modded!

I suspect someone like MW might be behind this... it's just too much of a joke.

I was only kidding. To be honest, I like the Model M's natural color, and would rather that board hadn't been painted.
