Does anyone know if the bump on Greys are the same as Clears? Or do they have an even more pronounced bump? #ErgoGrey2014? :))

Now we just need MX Whites and MX Click Grey!!

◾Actuation Force: 80g
Quote
Cherry MX Gray switches are the best cherry switch for typing. The tactile bump can easily be felt, and the resistance is similar to your average keyboard. Although many people find them just fine for gaming, some don't like the fact that the release point is above the actuation point. This can cause some trouble with double-tapping. This is usually the case with someone who has experienced other mechanical switches before hand. As a note: this switch actually has a peak force of 80g at the point of actuation. This is due to the design of the Cherry switch itself.

Best for gaming AND typing? Kappa.jpg

Aren't these kind of heavy?

It'll never happen, from what I gather super blacks were only one 1-4 keys on just a couple keyboards, all of which seem to be expensive and hard to get.

It's close enough I guess  :'(

So what are peoples opinion on these switches, good, bad, painful? I can't remember seeing anyone with them on a board.

Some people have said the bump is more like browns than clears, is this true?

It's for REAL MEN to use only.

If you don't have a wrist please don't apply.  Grey's are rare as hens teeth but well worth the purchase.  It's basically BS on steroids and every bloke would want it because it's what you need to prove that typing has to be a workout or go home type of mentality.

I want one....... the fingers and wrist would make my girl scream for attention.

YES the pain is GOOD !   You need to know you are alive and that keyboard makes sure that you feel every bit of it.  What's wrong with feeling a bit of discomfort for long term gain?

I agree, but only if the pain is for being one with the 55g rubber cup. Topre is worth it.

Can someone know if the tactile bump is bigger on the tactile grey stem than a clear stem?

Edit: I just put a stock MX Brown spring in this tactile MX grey from a space bar. The tactility is amazing. Currently placing an order for 110x tactile greys.

Does it mean that the sole difference is in their springs?

Can anyone who owns both tactile grays and clears speak up? Also please let us know what are the differences in spring weights.

I have them both on my desk right now actually.

Same stem, pictures to come

The phone's flash sorta bounced off the clear, so I took a picture next to a brown. The grey is noticeably more tactile.

Looks to me like there's a bit of light halo on the clear, like on my picture. In real life they looked equally sharp to me.

It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

But then again, with no extra springs of my own of any weight, I'm guessing that a 5 pack of linear grey switches might be the best rout to go. I just hope shipping to Canada isn't that much. I plan on building my phantom this weekend so the spacebar will have to wait.

Got some grey's today and I can confirm that the stems are identical to clear stems. The only difference betw. the two is the spring, heavier than a MX green or Korean 80g.

Can anybody with a real tactile gray-populated keyboard speak up and tell us how it feels like?

I have linear grays and was planning to use them in a project but would prefer tactile over linear. My goal is to get keyboards that are stiff or heavy enough for my liking, without actually being so stiff that I can't type properly. Maybe it is my delusion, but my buckling springs always seem stiffer than my clears.

My goal is to get keyboards that are stiff or heavy enough for my liking, without actually being so stiff that I can't type properly. Maybe it is my delusion, but my buckling springs always seem stiffer than my clears.

To me Tactile Grey switches feel like very heavy browns. The tactile bump is more apparent than in a Brown switch but not as apparent as the Clear switch. Also they're heavier than stock Clears. I think they're too uncomfortable to type on as a daily driver.

hmm... that's bad. I wanted a big tactile bump like clears; stiffer than normal clears is good, but despite the pictures showing they have a similar tactile bump to clears, it doesn't actually feel that way in practice?

also wondering if their spring is like clear springs that get harder near the bottom of a keystroke. I don't want to bottom out.

strangely, when I used my friend's 55g Topre (sold one for him recently on gh), I felt as though it was heavier than clears at the point of actuation.
Most of the modding can be done on your own once you break through the psychological barriers.

The thorpies degrade quicker over time and the rubber will make it harder to work the keys giving you that illusion that the Realforce is harder to press than a Cherry.

That is why if you crave thorpe buy a BRAND NEW one and not one that is old/secondhand.
