Best 200 USD monitor?
« on: Fri, 14 February 2014, 19:30:19 »
My current monitor hurts me. I don't know the technical terms but I can describe the issues with this monitor. Things seem to get all fuzzy and blurry as if it's like tv static, not resolution issues. That effect only happens on certain colors, it certainly happens on the geekhack website. There's also major backlight bleed. The stand wobbles so much that I have to type super carefully so that the monitor doesn't wobble. Uhg.. Anyways

Does anyone have any experience with a good monitor I can use for playing games? It doesn't need to be over 60hz and I want a good stand and the display must have no backlight bleed. I refuse to use ASUS products too- they all have horrible stands. I've been looking for a good monitor and all the 200 dollar ones seemed to be just bad. Except for this monitor ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AX9Z6MU/ref=s9_simh_gw_p147_d0_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1H957EZ7MA78SXN9D6ZA&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1688200382&pf_rd_i=507846 ), which doesn't seem to be overly well known but there's no complaints at all about it. Besides one dude that said the size was too wide which made things look a bit weird, but I'm pretending I didn't read that.

Thank you for your help

I recommended a friend a http://www.amazon.com/Dell-UltraSharp-U2312HM-IPS-Monitor/dp/B005LN1JEC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1392431387&sr=8-1&keywords=Dell+U2312HM, which is a smaller version of the U2412M, which is what I have, and we are both very satisfied.

Stand is very sturdy and flexible at the same time, backlight is great, IPS, Matte finish, etc. 60Hz with refresh rates to match. Just over $200 last I checked, too. You could also get a 21.5" version for a little cheaper, but it's basically at $200.

If you don't mind a refurb, you can get a HP ZR24W for about $150-$175. Also the LG IPS231B-BN are pretty good in a similar price though they do not have as nice a stand.

That BenQ you linked is probably not bad. It's a VA panel so it should be of a much better image quality than TN. I find it amusing that the 27" version would also be just inside your budget, but the 24" is not.
