Whole new feeling for keys

So I'm at work right now and I had my shooting ear plugs with me which block out 33 dB. I decided to put them in cuz of distractions, and now when I type, I don't hear anything, I just FEEL. It's awesome.

I'm typing this on my RealForce 87U 55g. The keys feel heavier for some reason. Maybe because there's no audible feedback. It feels thockier than usual. Try it out and tell me how it goes on your favorite board.

I am really starting to dislike cherry mx blue switches but if I put headphones on and turn them up nice and loud as I always do, they feel much nicer to type on. Blues are just obnoxious switches to use.

Hey Flare, you will definitely fall in hardcore love with your new RF 55g. I'm serious. You saved some money too by buying that first instead of the 45g (unless you did buy it) because that thing is wayyyy too light. It feels much more satisfying to type on the 55. Besides, I think MX Blues are like 50g which are still pretty light. And it's not fatiguing at all. I'd say it's a more defined keystroke than heavy. You'll enjoy it.

CLB, you'll notice a huge difference in the way your keyboard feels because you won't have that auditory confirmation that you struck a key. You're essentially depriving your sense of hearing, so your sense of touch and sight and everything else will enhance without you consciously knowing it.

For example, my mouse has a loud ass click and when I click it, I just hear it. But with the plugs in, I FEEL the click because I'm not hearing it anymore. It's such a weird sensation. You just have to experience it. I even tried taking the plugs out and clicking my mouse again to see if I can catch that same feeling, and it doesn't feel the same with the click being audible.

It is actually the opposite (why most manufactures make 45g boards), there is however a very vocal 55g support group here.

In the end though there is no best, it comes down to a mix of preference, finger strength and hand/finger weight (10-15g isn't that much weight to offset).

I personally think 45g boards are way too light. Regular rubber dome keyboards aren't even that light. Sometimes when resting my hand on the board, I get surprise "ssssssssssssssssssssssssssss" with the 45g RF. That's never happened with a rubber dome or with any other board I've had.

Like many before me, I prefer both the tactile and audible feedback. So, MX blues.

no exposure to topre keyboards, but I occasionally find myself wearing earplugs at work. Most of the time I have one earplug and a wireless phone headset in the other. But anyway, yes it's a very different experience. Not better or worse, but it makes me notice how stiff this keyboard is -- supposedly a rubber dome (see .sig) but it doesn't feel or sound like anything Dell ever produced.
