Its a landing pad type mod done at the factory.

But its rubber and goes around the switch not just the stem.

Same purpose.  It just hits the bottom of the skirt instead of the inside of the cap.

Seem like an odd approach... I suppose it would make it feel even more like a rubberdomes. Maybe they intend it to be more like a splash guard?

Sorry about the image.  I didn't mean anything by it.  It would probably feel very similar to an o-ring or landing pad mod.

O-rings can be found here.  Not sure where to get landing pads from.  I have tried the o-rings and didn't care for the feel so I gave them away.

ok  check it out

reasons I'm intrusted in these

1-shotrend key travel..the rubber 0-rings are great but don't shorten key stroke but very little and if you try to add to thick of an 0-ring the cap pops off because it cant bottom out on the stem so they dont lock in right
why do i want short key stroke well because i mostly game on my pc and shorter=less time less distance traveled and quicker response...."it's just science dude"...

2- they look to fit tight around the switch it's-self and i imagine this would help keep dust and crap from getting down in the switch /pcb  ...

3- i want my keyboard to feel soft/quiet when i bottom out...

sry if i didnt make my reasoning more obvious ....

thx Sean

1.  Trust me they shorten the key travel a very noticeable amount but if you are doing it for reduced travel to actuation, they modification will need to be on the stem underneath the top half of the housing.  The o-ring and landing pad both will only reduce the travel after actuation point.  I mostly game on my pc as well and have never been in a situation where shorter key travel before actuation would have resulted in better results.  Also they o-rings and landing pads have zero impact on keys falling off.  The allow full engagement of cap stem to switch stem.

2.  At the place where any of these mods go will have zero impact on the internals of the switch getting dirty.  You will have better results to keeping the insides of your switches clean by not eating at your keyboard, not smoking in your house, using hepa filters in your HVAC and changing them regularly, and getting rid of any fur bearing pets.

3.  All of the previous mentions will cause a softer and quieter bottom out.

In conclusion the only way to get a reduced travel to actuation point is to change switches or mod the switches in a way that will not let the switch stem not rise up all the way.  However, this will not affect your bottom out feeling at all.  While I am not sure on travel distance on Topre switches (have not used them due to being capacitive mechanism and not easily modded into fully custom layouts and they just don't interest me) but the only switch which I know of that have a shorter throw are the new "Razer" switches where are Cherry clones.  They have a reduced travel pre actuation.  Albeit only 0.3mm shorter.

My personal opinion on the new "Razer" switches and the reduced travel on gaming is changing servers to achieve a quicker ping would have a greater impact, IE no noticeable difference.

Not trying to be negative or discourage you from trying to get what you want just trying to give info in the proper light and help you in your quest.

you do have some good points but....

I have a big problem ...I cant ever leave my stuff alone ....gotta tweek everything LMAO so im gonna still try to get some to play with...

so im cutting rubber pads up right now.. have a piece about 1cm thick....hahahahah... ok with a rubber pad at the base it feels firmer/diffrent  than the o-ring not saying anyone should get or do this but i still am very intrusted/ intrigued by this "mod"

and yes  smoking and eating at ur desk is bad  but we all do it ... don't lie .... you know u do..... i'm laughing really hard now almost in tears...

just the other night my cat decided to spill my mt.dew all over my desk     i have a pull out trey so no harm to "my precious" but that pic shows a tight fit all around the base of the switch in my opinion every thing i can do to prevent damage no matter how little is worth it ...accidents do happen ... i'm at home now because of a 4 car pileup i was in last week .still sore..

so while you have some very good points and i do respect  your opinion i gotts to get my tweek on...but thx for the input

I understand completly.  You should see the cart for my tool boxes at work.  Granted I do smoke but never in my house, wifes car, or my car with my kids.  I do eat at my computer though but I make sure to wipe my hands before typing and rarely eat anthing that leaves the idea of "cheeto finger".  And the cat has never been on my desk.

My biggest point in my previous post was any of the more common mods will not get you where you want to be.  That is a shorter travel getting to the actuation point instead of after.  To achieve this you will have to do a mod inside of the switch.
