Yes, MX blacks with doubleshots. It seems to be in rather excellent shape as well, great collectors piece.

Are there any Phantom plates that this layout would work with?

no, but you can always make one. one-off lasered plates aren't that expensive, especially compared with the cost of the KB.

It's probably one of the worst keyboards to get to steal keycaps from as nearly all the modifier keys are odd sizes that are not useful elsewhere. It does have a unique color though, and it does look really nice paired with standard black/beige modifiers. That set up gives a very subtle tonal 2tone.

The auction description says that it is a XT keyboard. :( There are similar keyboards that talk AT, i.e. same as PS/2.

There is already a known keyboard of that type with German layout called the G80-0530. They were apparently made before Cherry decided to write the layout variant as letters instead of digits.
Previously seen keyboards have PCB-mounted Cherry MX-switches with diodes for NKRO.
See http://deskthority.net/wiki/Cherry_G80-0499 .

If you want to use the keyboard as is, I would suggest that you put a Teensy in there with Soarer's XT-to-USB converter loaded. You should keep NKRO.
The keyboard is really wide, though..

Ivan, are you simply being tactful? I'd just call it yellowed, seasoned/ genuine vintage that has seen many summers and plenty of UV light.
Most of the modding can be done on your own once you break through the psychological barriers.

No, these have a unique colorway and it's really supposed to be these colors. This one appears to be in excellent condition much like the 0499 in my own collection.
