Corsair Vengeance K95
« on: Sat, 26 April 2014, 05:15:31 »
Okey, so I just bought a K95 (Cherry MX reds), and I'm hella unsure wether I want to send it back and buy browns instead or not... Problem is I can't really test it out (got nearly no shops with mechs in Norway). Bear in mind this is my first ever experience with a mech KB, but the reds felt almost "cheap" to me... like the first mm or two with travel is just simply "loose"... I really don't know how to describe it properly. What I'm wondering is if someone has had the same experience, and tried brown and liked them better, or if it is simply me having to get used to mechanical switches? I know this whole thing is personal preference, but just wanted to hear if someone have had the same experience. I'm a touch typist, and type fairly light.

It sounds as if you're the kind of person that NEEDS some sort of tactile feedback or bump on actuation

In that case, whether typing or gaming, you prob might want to try out MX browns (or clears if you can get a hold of them)

If your harsh reaction to reds was just due to lack of time spent with them, try them out for at least a week or two: if you get used to them, that should be good

As for me, when I first typed on a mx red keyboard in a computer store, my hands hated it; they were much too light and I had typos when I tried out a typing test

I might have enjoyed reds if I typed on them more, but atm I'm using ergo clears and loving the heck out of them
Current Keyboards: Orion - 62g ergo clears;
A87 PS2AVR - 59g ergo clears; QFR - stock blues

Thanks for the reply!
And yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking when I first tried it, maybe I just simply need a tactile feedback... funny though, after typing on that thing for 10 minutes, and now switching over to my laptop KB, I start making s***tons of errors just cause I think I've actuated the key when I haven't >_>

I got two weeks before I have to return it if I want to, so I'm gonna try and test out the browns before that.. We'll see what I end up with.. I've kinda ruled out the blues, 'cause they are too noisy.. My GF would kill me ^^' and all other switches are basically impossible to get in Norway (without ordering internationally). So it's between reds and browns at this point.
