What keycap set is this?
« on: Wed, 30 April 2014, 10:19:04 »
Hey guys, what keycap set is this? I thought its originative dolch, but the color seems lighter than it shows on the website. Is it just the lighting?

That's original Dolch. Colours should be pretty much identical.

You can see it's OG Dolch and not GMK/Originative Dolch because of the print screen key has the "sys req" side printing which GMK/Originative does not.

Thanks for your response! Is ther no way to get an OG dolch set now, and the only manufacturer that makes anything similar is GMK / Originative?

You can get an original Dolch set from Dolch PAC keyboards. They come up on ebay/classifieds sometime. Just make sure you get the MX version not the ML version.

They are 1800 layout though.

I'd be tempted just to get rid of this hideous Win 8 logo the Originative set has  >:D
Literally any other Windoiws logo would be fine

I just noticed they use blanks in their photos. What a load of horse **** that is.

Cool, thanks. But aren't the group buys organized here usually different to the original sets? What I'm saying is, is it likely that the GB that will be organized will also be Cherry profile, dyesubbed on PBT keycaps?

The originals aren't dyesubbed PBT. You can't dyesub a lighter legend on darker plastic. The originals are doubleshot ABS.

Ivan will be doing the GB through GMK. GMK owns the original moulds used for Cherry doubleshots, including Dolch. They will be EXACT replicas. Same moulds.

Only legend on some keys (tab, caps lock, shifts, enter, backspace, math keys on numpad) will differ from US Dolch but would be identical to DE Dolch in the upcoming groupbuy. Since it is all made on same tooling and equipment as original it's a re-run not a replica.
To me replica is something like my Chery style dyesubs I do. It has nothing to do with the original, it only appears to be similar.

Cool, thanks for answering my newbie questions. Can you clarify what the difference between US dolch and DE dolch is? Also, do you plan on having modifiers for winkey keyboards when you do the groupbuy?

Thanks in advance!

I'll just post photo as it is easy to see difference in modifiers and math legends. Keys do not have text shift, tab, backspace etc on, and with proper multiply and divide.

Yes there will be keys for standard 104/105 layout keyboard with Windows key.

Will it be possible to also add a short right shift to the set like on an original Dolch?

It will satisfy all the KBT Pure owners :) There aren't enough sets with that key.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

Key selection will probably be this:
63371-0

I didn't make the colors right, so disregard that.

So pleased that you are planning to keep the ISO/UK layout and legends on there (even if some of the legends are doubled-up with the ANSI legends).  :thumb:
