TG3 Data911 keycaps
« on: Sun, 25 October 2015, 23:43:45 »
I got a couple TG3 (backlit) Data911 keyboards, and I'm trying to figure out what type/profile keycaps they have.

If anyone can shed some light on this, I'd appreciate it.

Thank you,

Are the backlit keys the kind that have the weird raised "inlay", like Deck keyboards do? Like the upper right here:

Deck has the Deck 82 board that is basically the same thing. I think TG3 was their OEM too. Here's an album from he-who-shall-not-be-named:

Yes, those are same style.
Funky raised surface, backlit.

Thanks.

Deck and TG3 are the same company.  It's an OEM profile and, from what I remember, it's some sort of painted top that they laser the paint away.

These keycaps are very tight on the stems - have to use keycap puller (probably by design because of the rubber sleeve between the switches and caps).
- I've broken 2 stems already trying to pop them off.

Thank you for the replies.

I too have a TG3 BL82, I'd love custom lasored keycaps for it!

Did you remove the rubber liner?

If you find a source for custom caps, please let me know - I'll buy-in.

Yeah the first thing I did was take off the keyboard condom. I'm surprised you broke two stems because I removed the caps with a pen since I didn't have a keycap puller at the time and I didn't break any.
