Silly Keycap tests
« on: Fri, 18 April 2014, 22:26:02 »
Back in the day, I did some super silly keycap tests.  But eventually I learned from these and help me to make better and better keycaps.

Some were pretty dorky! (Notice the first two pics were keycaps salvaged from my an old apple rubber dome.  I owned 1 mech back then and I was NOT going to practice on my only mech.  /sigh when was the time when you owned just one?  This obsession... Anyway I digress..

But they help me eventually get to these! :D

That last set looks great!

Steampunk forever :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

You can check out my blog for more info.  I've got videos on how to.  It's fairly simple.  You just need a bit of time and lots of patience! :D

haha! yeah.  so hilarious.  now that I look back on it, it's pretty horrible.  I've seen some really bad "steampunk" mods on Etsy and I guess my buttom mods would fit right in there. :)

wow, it's really amazing to see how far practice takes you. those first keycaps are hilariously terrible, but the typewriters are some of the best keyboard mods i've ever seen. Good job dude, thanks for all the info!
