Lets set the keycaps aside and talk about the main Board. I've narrowed down my choices to the DuckyShine3 & WASDv2 Barebone. People seems to suggest the Ducky more so. I want to know which board is more solid / better quality or gives off a better feel in general. Is there any Pros & Cons?

Thanks, Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask.

v2 for sure. I don't think I've ever seen someone suggest Ducky over WASD. If you're into LEDs you could go with the WASD Code keyboard. (but, it's only available in clears and greens)
I hate everything.

^ get the ducky

the only thing that makes the wasd stand out is the barebones option.  it's no better than a ducky or filco.

if you got keycaps already or planning on buying some, then the wasd will likely be cheaper.

otherwise, if you're planning on not using the backlights, get the cheaper option.

ALL zombros wanted:  dead or undead or dead-dead.

I have not had any exposure to the WASDv2 but my ducky is very solid, can't compare the two tho.

But i would be comfortable recommending a ducky based on build quality.

The shine 3 has backlighting so I don't think comparing it to the WASDv2 is proper.
Let me suggest the Ducky Premier DK9008 in lieu of the Shine 3.

You could compare it to the WASD CODE, which is backlit.

I'd get the WASD V2. I have experience with them as a company and they are great. Also a lot of work went into the design of that KB and I agree with most of the choices made.

Now, both tho keyboards in question have a reputation for being decent boards. They are both good options. Why not get both? :P

I've got a ducky shine 3, a WASD v2, and a Quick Fire Rapid. All common recommendations for first boards and of the three the WASD v2 definitely feels the most "solid". The QFR and the Ducky are about dead even. Although I will say there's not a lot of difference between the three.

I'm really happy with the WASD boards I have and loan them to family and friends who are mechcurious.

Doesn't the CODE lack a lot of the backlighting options that the Shine 3 has?

Just out of curiosity, what unconventional designs were developed for the WASD v2? (I'm not terribly familiar with either board)

the code lacks everything compared to the shine.

no backlight modes
no backlight colors
nearly no switch options
ALL zombros wanted:  dead or undead or dead-dead.

Not sure if there is much difference between V2 and CODE but after buying a CODE with clears I am definitely certain it is not worth the money I paid. The CODE has ping issues, the case is flimsy in a few spots and it just doesn't feel as solid to me.

The ducky shine 3 with blacks I have is rock solid and to me feels much studier and if you care about the fancy lighting options it has those to. (I also have a shine 2 with clears which has been my daily driver for almost a year now and it is solid as well, of all the keyboards I've used I still come back to it.)

Also your going to have to decide what stabilizers you like best costar (WASD) or cherry (Ducky).

Running around from Topre to MX to BS and rotating boards frequently, my Ducky Shine II with stock Clears thick pbt is what I leave at work.  It's the easiest for me to get comfortable with, regardless of mood.  Absolutely NO complaints about Ducky's build quality.  Cannot offer my opinion on WASD, sorry, I know that is what you were asking for.  Hopefully my good experience with Ducky also helps?  Sorry if spam.

So long as you want blues or browns just get a Maxkeyboard Blackbird instead and be done with it.

Just an Update.

I ordered a Barebone TKL WASDv2 MX Blue. Thank You for helping me decide. I figured I didn't really need the LEDs or didn't want to deal w/ it in general. Is there a guide on how to install keycap on Costar Stabilizer inserts?
