I'm the FNG

Hey everyone, glad to meet you.

I've been lurking for about 6 weeks while I've been shopping for my first mechanical keyboard.

My first experience with a mechanical keyboard was at work 6 years ago on a system called Gateway Manager. It's a data link configuration utility for military data links such as Link 11, Link 16 and all it's variations. I was always amazed at the feel when typing on this keyboard but never knew there was this mystical variety of keyboards identified as "mechanical".

Fast forward 6 years and I've been reading about it everywhere, reddit.com is where I first heard of these keyboards and then it clicked, "Wow that computer at work is mechanical".
btw work for me is Royal Canadian Air Force, Data Link Operator.

Anyways, that's my story.

For my first Mech, I bought a Cooler Master Quick Fire Stealth (MX Browns).

I love it but I'm already looking forward to my next purchase. I am eyeing an Ergo Dox kit from massdrop whenever I can convince my wife that buying another keyboard is a necessity. (Fake an CTS injury?)

So yeah, HI!

I wondered if you were military when reading the title.

You're a man. Buying another keyboard is a necessity when you say it is.

All joking aside, welcome to geekhack. Hope you enjoy your stay and find what you're looking for.
