Thoughts on the Leopold FC660 M
« on: Fri, 20 June 2014, 13:56:27 »
Hey guys,

As I wanted to customize my QFR set but sadly the person I contacted no longer customizes cases. However, I did find a Leopold FC660M online with the case color that I wanted already. I am not only going to have my QFR Stealth as my only keyboard so I am considering either this Leopold since the Filco I wanted is no longer produced ( yellow version limited filco) and white filco is expensive . Am I going to notice significant differences between the Leopold and the QFR  Stealth? I liked the color a lot on the Leopold I found, I will only have to buy other keycaps to get it further to what I want. Sorry for all the questions and thanks!

The quality build of the Leopold is very good, solid, no rattle, and with good weight. It feels high quality. There is a new recent bread of the FC660M with PBT die sublimated keycaps. They cost a bit more but the keycaps are very high quality. The space bar does not have standard stem positions, so you need an original Leo or one out of the KC84 or KC87 PBT sets that are known to fit the 660. Also the windows key and the right shift are not standard size. The windows key is 1u, and the shift is 2.25u like the standard left shift.

Yeah thanks , I saw that one you are talking about. It is the one I am getting however depending on the color of case I get the keycaps may be changed since the keycaps are defaulted gray for this seller. Gray goes good with white but not with red for me XD. Thanks for the detailed keycap measures. For reference, what makers sell these caps since some of them are not standard?

There is no stock set with those special keys included, but there are some group buys that now include them like Ivan's and Matt's. The first is still taking orders, and Matt should open a new Granite one at some point. Ivan's is Cherry profile and Matt's DSA.
