WASD v2 Keyboard quality?

Very curious, my cm storm quickfire rapid with blue switches seems to have gotten gunked up on quite a few keys (someone in my house most definitely spilled soda on it.) And I've tried fixing it, apparently if you get something sticky inside a blue or green switch they are tough to fix though, I don't care enough about this cm storm keyboard to fix it.

I am curious if anyone has a WASD v2 keyboard? Is the keycap quality good?

If I bought a keycap set would all the keys fit the wasd keyboard? I know with my steelseries and cm storm they had some irregularity with the keys on certain keys.

wasd is pretty okay apart from the keycaps though. it's abs and laser etched so it'll shine if you've heavy usage.

standard keycap sets should fit just right cause wasd uses the standard layout with winkey.

If you're going to do it get a barebones v2 and put some nice caps on.

They are not up to par, but getting replacement keycaps isn't worth it for most people. My brother's Quickfire TK is not up to par with my Korean custom, but he doesn't think the extra money is worth the benefits.

Right, but realistically I'm not seeing many very high quality mechanical keyboards that have MX blacks or Reds that are in stock and will arrive at my house this week with ground shipping for only $160 with shipping. \

Oh, I was trying to make an analogy showing that custom keycaps are nice, but may not be for you, not implying that you should get a custom...

Only place I can think of that makes pretty nice quality custom color sets is SP. http://www.pimpmykeyboard.com/. DSA profile though.

wasdkeyboards also sells custom sets, but I personally don't like their keycaps. Otherwise, you could hunt classifieds for some doubleshots, PBTs, or buy some Ducky PBTs/Vortex Doubleshot PBTs. Those are pretty much all the nice keycaps imo.

The WASD keyboards themselves are good quality, but the keycaps are not great.

The Ducky sets are good, especially the newer thick PBT ones. You mentioned Red/Grey, but I don't recall ever seeing a set with that combination. Mechanical Keyboards has this Red / White set, though, and IMSTO has a nice grey set that should match quite well since the profiles are very similar (Cherry profile and Vortex's copy of Cherry profile):

Expensive to buy two sets, but a high quality custom set will never be cheap. They're both thick PBT and the IMSTO set is very good quality.

You can mix and match the Ducky sets, too as they're all OEM profile.

IMHO, good keycaps can make even an inferior board feel good. On a good quality board they really show how what a mechanical board should feel like.
