There are a lot of bridges in and around Pittsburgh
« on: Mon, 04 August 2014, 09:19:32 »
Went down the Google Maps rabbit hole this morning.  I noticed Pittsburgh has a lot of bridges.  And the metro area seems to have grown in a sporadic manner.

mind=blown it's so cool to discover new amazing facts.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

I loved walking across the Roberto Clemente Bridge when I went to a pirates game a few years back.  That bridge is really beautiful.

For the longest time, every single Brewers game I went to was against the Pirates.  It was uncanny.

Holy crap, there are a lot of bridges in Pittsburgh.  Pittsburgh has 446 bridges, which is the most in the world.  NYC is a sad sorry sh!thole with only 9 bridges and 4 tunnels.  Well 10 bridges if you count the one that goes out to Riker's Island (which is the City jail).  We need at least 436 more bridges here.  It's crowded as f*ckballs on those bridges, and that's when the fat@ss governor of NJ isn't blocking traffic on the bridge to Jersey in order to punish Democrats, liberals, women, gays, weirdos, nerds, and other people that he doesn't like.

My favorite bridge of all time was this one that I had to cross the Missouri River to get into Nebraska from Iowa.  It masqueraded as a two-lane bridge, and when we got to the other side, we had to pay $3 to this elderly gentlemen in a small booth.  I felt like I stepped back in time.  I miss that bridge.

It's still there... and it's still a toll bridge. At least I assume you are talking about the one on 370 crossing. There is also one like this on US34 too, but I am not sure if it still costs as I haven't been that way in a long time.

I went to hit quote and somehow ended up hitting modify LOL.

I think it's the one near Plattsmouth.  Which seems to be getting replaced, if the latest Google Maps photos are worth anything.

when i lived in lancaster, there were 2 bridges my wife and i wouldn't drive over. i mean they were solid wooden bridges, but these bridges are the exact type of bridges you see in horror movies, google maps made us cross it (when we were exploring) and we said **** this, never again.

plus these bridges were probably made by the amish, you can't trust their work quality.
