Getting multiple keyboards and need help
« on: Thu, 18 September 2014, 05:37:38 »
So as you guys may or may not have already know I posted a thread asking about deciding about what mechanical should I get as a first mechanical keyboard. Now I have been sucked into the whole word of keyboards and I can't help to molest any mech keyboards I see, whether in malls or my friend's. So I have decided that my Filco Majestouch Ninja Blues is not going to do everything (Although I like it a lot lot lot for typing) and is not as responsive as I would like. I would need an extra keyboard for typing at work(Which I require to be quiet which are browns) and when I'm gaming and need the responsiveness of a red. I also have double tap issues in the blues which have really set me back from the games I play.

So at first I thought of just getting all 3 switches and selling my current Filco Majestouch Blues for:
Filco Majestouch Ninja with Browns
Tt eSPORTS Poseidon (Cherry MX version) with the Blues
CM Storm Quickfire Rapid-i with Reds

But then I don't think this is as cost efficient and started considering just staying with my Filco and getting a Razer Blackwidow Tournament Stealth  . The reason I wanted to get a Tournament Stealth is that recently I heard good things about their keyboards and secondly I found a retailer selling nearby my place which sell it at $80 as compared to the CM Storm Quickfires which sell at $110 in my area, which just catches my attention.
I am aware that Razer uses it's own Razer Orange switches which is slightly different from the Cherry MX Browns, I've seen reviews online and heard from friends that they feel just like Browns that are more responsive and has a sound like a Cherry MX Black switch, which makes me feel that the Tournament just suits all my needs other than what the Blues could do better. So I'm probably gonna get the Tournament Stealth and use it as a secondary keyboard when gaming and when I need the place to be quiet.

Advice or thoughts from Blackwidow Stealth owners are needed and I am open to any other keyboard recommendations, would prefer to have no backlight though.

There is a reason why the BlackWidow is so much cheaper, and it revolves around quality.  Although there are some people who experience joy with their BW, most seem to find problems with them - poor construction, poor materials, faulty switches, faulty LEDs, keycaps wearing out, poor construction and so on.  There are more reports of problems with the BW than happy users.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Completely agree with this.

If you need backlighting, get the CM Rapid-i, otherwise get the filco.

I also wanted to add that Razer's own software caused my Windows 7 a boatload of issues before I finally realized it was the reason and when I uninstalled it, my computer became stable again. Of course all computers are different, but it makes me shy away from anything made by Razer. That's why I have 2 Naga's sitting around somewhere, unused, along with a wireless MMO 'ultimate' version. I haven't gotten around to finding all the parts for the wireless one to sell it, but yeah....beware.

Don't really want to install the Razer software as I don't see any use for it as of now and I don't have any other Razer products, I just need it for the basic functions of a keyboard(and the media keys) and that's why I'g going the TKL Tournament edition.
