Assuming it's working, it's a steal for an F AT.  It should be working since it appears to be a NIB replacement unit.  I'd buy it, but I caught the Alps bug.

Yeah, that's why I said it looks to be a replacement unit.  I know a lot of the field replacement keyboards had that short warranty and the box.  At $80 +shipping it was a ridiculous price.  I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did.

I already use my model F122 at job and have 2 XT too, but was looking for an AT since the F122 is soooooo wide and it's not very comfortable since I use the mouse a lot recently. And this one looked very clean. And has it,s box and a nice fair price. Could just not resist!

Last one I got with a box came in a keytronic box. I about had a heart attack until I opened it and a pristine AT model F KB lay inside.

Just finished converting it with a Soarer. Typing this on it right now. Super happy with it, weems to be 100% working so far. Need to floss mod it then it will be done for now. At some point I will need to fully restore it for the rust if I decide to do it, but I will try with an XT before doing it with an AT or F122 and not in the near future for sure!


I prefer the enter on the AT compared to the one on the F122 cause it's less wobbly, but the small backspace will require some time getting use to it. Time to stop making errors!


Anyway, just verry happing since it will let me put my mouse in a position where it does not hurt anymore! Damn F122, so nice except if you need to type and use the mouse a lot.

Congrats.  Beautiful board.  You'll just have to do a conversion and move that backslash next to the right bracket on the second row.  Then, convert those two key to a single backspace.  Someone on this forum converted an AT to a  TKL, can't remember who.

How does the AT feel compared to an XT?

Thx. It's already converted now and floss moded. I don't think I will change the layout much for now other than to add a layer for the arrows using ijkl and also I use some keys on the numpad for play/pause and volume up and down.


As for the comparison with the XT, it's mostly down to the layout since the keys feel the same mostly. I noticed a small difference in sound with my F122, but it's very faint. Also, the AT is a little more stressing to open because the plastic is vey thight after 30 years and the way it's held together it makes an incredibly loud noise when you open it as if the case was splitting in half. But once opened it's quite simple. I only removed the original cable and plugged a pro-micro with the Soarer converter code loaded and glued it.


Anyway I am very happy since it's working. I will be even more happy tomorrow because even if I loved my F122, it's just so wide that when used for typing while you also need to use the mouse a lot it's bad for my shoulder. At home, I gamed on the F122 and since I move the keyboard to the left to game it's not an issue.

Did you get a pro Micro (or clone) off of eBay?  I read that thread on Deskthority to use one of those instead of a Teensy, but I think that some people reported that the mini-USB port is flimsy and has fallen off.  Did you use AVRdude to load the firmware?  Do you use Linux?  I'm new at all this, and use a Hagstrom for my 1st XT, but will be ordering a Teensy likely for the 2nd XT.

I use some pro-micro (probably clone) that I got for 8$ on ebay. Used 4 so far and they are working well for me so far. I used avrdude to load the Soarer code, it's a 1 line command when you do it right. Then used the tools with the Soarer converter to load my layout modifications. I use it with Windows 7 and 8 with no problem.

I have been using this keyboard at job since I got it a few weeks ago and the layout works well. I remapped a few keys with the Soarer converter and added a layer for navigation and even if I would prefer some small differences, it's still quite nice to use as is. Small backspace is easy to get used to. I would prefer to have both ctrl and alt on left side, but it's rare that I need both, mostly for @ since I mapped the only alt as a left alt so I need to use ctrl + alt + 2 to make my @ (I use french as my default language).


Anyway, I am super happy with this keyboard. I still love my F122, but I now use it at home where I use it mainly for gaming.
