How does one lose a Selectric?

Well, by lost, I mean we might not have it anymore.  It could have been sold in a yard sale, given away, just not moved, or one of a dozen other things.  We have a stack of boxes the size of a room full of odds and ends of old computers and various junk that never got unpacked, so it could be in there somewhere.  Difficult to pick it out from all the other stuff that's just as heavy.

Some people have asked about the innards of the Selectric Typewriter.

Totally awesome, IMHO, even though mine isn't in working condition.

If you want scary, you should check out my sound recording. Reading around the net a bit, I believe it's the clutch chatter noise.

Reading all the typewriter stuff here, I'm itching to get my mom's old electric and my dad's manual out for a good refurbishing. Not enough time in the day, it seems.

That seems like a lot of waste just to do this:

Manuals are the best, and since I have written half a screenplay on that SM9, the shade of my letters are consistent and the copy looks good, except for the errors. True, the Nakajima gives me the best looking copy, but the SM9 feels like a tank that can perform surgery, so it wins.
