Recommend me a backlit TKL with MX Greens and raised keys
« on: Wed, 05 November 2014, 15:04:28 »
So, I joined the drop for the Varmilo VA87M on MD which has everything I want, but the shipping date isn't until late December and I'd prefer not waiting that long to receive my keyboard. Are there any other keyboards out there under ~$160 that fit the bill for what I want? I'll wait if I can't find anything else.
I proxy anything including keyboards (キーボード / 鍵盤), from both Japan (日本) and China (中國). For more information, you may visit my dedicated webpage here: https://www.keyboards.es/proxying.html

What do you mean by raised keys?

Raised keys?

Otherwise Ducky Shine?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

By raised keys I mean that they are not recessed into the case. It's just a personal preference of mine.

I don't think I've seen a keyboard where the keys are recessed!  OEM profile keycaps will give you the highest raised keycaps, or perhaps some SA sets.

I think this picture clears up some questions:

This is the Varmilo VA87M.

Closest I've seen are GON and some other hard to come by customs. This is actually one of the first times I've seen a board with a thin case like that.

There is currently a drop for this and it does have backlighting and does come with an option for greens!
It does however cost an additional $45 to get greens and backlighting....

Oh my, that actually looks really nice.

More pictures of this board here:

Also, if you don't want to wait for Massdrop shipping, you could always buy one from TaoBao through a TaoBao agent.

He already said that he does not want to wait for the Massdrop shipping.

Your options are the Flashget G600 http://www.banggood.com/Flashget-G600-Wired-Mechanical-Keyboard-Cherry-MX-Red-Switch-p-79412.html

The DARE-U LBOTS http://www.banggood.com/LBOTS-Mechanic-Mechanical-Gaming-Keyboard-Cherry-MX-Black-Switch-p-78456.html

And another keyboard which name I forgot. I think it's the NEO87? I am not even sure if you can get it anymore. Either way, all of your options have to be imported from china and that can take a month, means you have to wait nontheless. Also, the switch choice is very limited. Massdrop seems to be the best option. Also seems to have the best quality out of all of those.
