Can't believe this crap, why buy a switch tester when many geekhackers will pass you theirs for the price of shipping?
Most of the modding can be done on your own once you break through the psychological barriers.

Since two way shipping will probably cost the same?  It is pricey at $13 though.  I know they're probably paying all of $5 or less for the whole thing.  It's a tool to sell their keyboards, it makes more sense to have a CM keyboard "pre-order" type deal through MassDrop where you commit to the purchase, they send you a switch tester, then you commit to a switch type by a given date.

That's an excellent idea, perhaps CM will read this. :thumb:

Not so long ago I was giving out sample switch sets FOC. I even paid for shipping. Sent out like 10-12 sets that way.

It's not that hard to do if you're out there with several types of switches that are leftover from projects and you decide not to use them. And nobody's saying that you've got to do it for free like I did. Just charge five bucks or something.

I'm out of tactile clickys and clears so not offering free switch samplers anymore, but surely there are people who could do this? Better than paying CM more money for something that you're not actually going to use anyway!

I beg to differ, it can be hacked into a mini keyboard :) I'm currently looking into making a PCB for this, can't make promises if this happens or when tho :/

Six Enablers would probably do the job, although a single PCB would be neater.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Kinda cool.  I'm unfortunate enough not to have a switch tester currently.  I have it on my to get list.

It's not that bad for shipping when your in the conus. Shipping alone cost just as much for the 1 item, which makes it about $20.  That could be like 20% of your keyboard budget for 6 keys.
