Some newbie questions here
« on: Sat, 17 January 2015, 17:21:42 »
First I had the razer bw with mx cherry blues for 2 years now and it is an ok keyboard to get a start with.(macros, mechanicals, cloud profiles, and also half of its price was a gift so w/e).Now I was looking to buy for one that had mx cherry reds on it to use it mostly for gaming as I do have the blue for typing and stuff.I heard browns are somewhere in the middle so if I was going to have 2 keyboards might as well have 1 for gaming and 1 for typing. Now my choices in Greece are k70(140euros) and cm quickfire ultimate(110euros) [red both] and CM TRIGGER(Last day offer 90 euros).Which should I choose? Also what's the difference on these https://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=topre_keyboards,rftenkeyless&pid=rf_se19e0 / https://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?pid=rf_se1700 the second one says that it has 30 to 45 weighting.I thought that like 45 was the lowest or smth.So the qs here are : Should i wait for a new release,if in fact something is getting released soon?Should I prefer browns over reds?Which product of these three should I buy?Should I buy Topre ones and give like 100 more euros for their better quality? Also explain the 30 to 45g vs 45 to all keys on the 87u

buy the 55g RF, it's the better of the 3.

i personally don't like variable weight topre, as it feels weird having one key using less force than the others. and all 45g is too light.

and always, ALWAYS, pick topre over cherry.

unless it's fc660. then just wait.
No, he’s not around. How that sound to ya? Jot it down.

I personally would get the 45g or 55g, not the ergonomic topre if you decide to choose toper.

I honestly would try out a bunch of switches if possible before buying.

The Trigger is the better of the Cherry MX boards you mention(since it has a standard layout on the main area of the board so you could replace the keycaps at some point if you want, which is one of the advantages of having Cherry MX switches), but if you are willing to order a board from the site you list the Topre boards at, I'd much rather get the KUL ES-87 with Reds than any of the boards you list.

If you can find another board locally with MX Reds and standard layout made by Filco or Ducky than that would also be a good one to get.

Topre is fine for typing, it has a very particular feel that is very different from any Cherry switch, but Reds are better for gaming, considering you already have a board for typing. IMHO, the 55g is the best if you do buy Topre. Topre have an S-shaped force curve like most rubber dome boards since it is also based on rubber domes, but it feels better than most other rubber dome boards. Still, I don't like them, personally, and it's a lot to pay for a board you may not like, especially if it has to be shipped from overseas.

Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.
