IBM Model M2 key rollover?
« on: Sat, 24 January 2015, 08:31:30 »
I've got a broken Model M2 (bad caps), and I wanted to know what the key rollover is for it. Is it 2 like the regular Model M, or higher?
Thanks.

The M2 has buckling spring over membrane, just like the Model M. The springs/hammers are identical but the barrels are shorter, with shorter keycaps and the keys are all in one plane, not mounted on a curved backplate.

Aww that's a shame. I heard there's a mod to put some kind of copper sheet in the KB to make it NKRO? Are the Unicomps 2KRO as well?

Yes, Unicomps are 2KRO as well.

If you want NKRO in buckling spring, you need to go Model F.

What about this mod then, how do I perform that?

(It helps if you give a timestamp of when in the video they are discussing what you are referring to, especially when the video is an hour long.)  There is a thread for this, but I was not aware anyone had completed the work.  Will find and post.

This thread has some work on a custom Model M membrane that could incorporate diodes to allow for NKRO, around reply 87 or so.

It was supposed to be around 44:00 I think, the link worked for me and started at that time.
